Texas Stadium Gone, But Memories Live On

Posted: Updated:

IRVING, TX - After decades of spectacle and big crowds, Texas Stadium drew the numbers again this morning for one last time.

The stadium, built in 1971, went down Sunday morning just after sunrise in a controlled implosion. A place that held a lifetime of memories for America's Team and its fans was gone in just a few seconds.

More than 4,000 people are believed to have turned out to watch the implosion early Sunday. A number of KTEN viewers have shared their favorite memories of Texas Stadium on KTEN's Facebook page. Some were looking back on those legendary Thanksgiving Games, others remembering competing inside the stadium during high-school play-offs, and many remembering rock concerts held there.
