Firefighters rally around family of girl killed in wreck

Posted: Updated:

SHERMAN, TX -- A sad story out of Grayson County, but it shows just how much of a family the firefighting community is.

Nineteen-year-old Malorie Elise Bullock,  a student at Texas A&M Commerce died in a motorcycle wreck last night.

Her father, Rick Bullock is a 25-year veteran of the Sherman Fire Department. Now, the family's friends have set up a fund to help with funeral expenses.

Today, Sherman's Fire Chief J.J. Jones talked about a promise he made to Malorie when her dad received the Medal of Valor from the department.

"Malorie came to the ceremony and stood with her father as I handed them that Medal of Valor. I made a promise to Mal that night, I said my job is to always send him home safe, better than you send him to me. What I couldn't do is return that favor to him," Chief Jones said.

If you'd like to donate to Malorie's fund, you can do so through the Cicost Credit Union at 401 Wilson Street in Sherman, phone number (903) 892-6089.
