Haircuts Helping Kids with Muscular Dystrophy

Posted: Updated:

SHERMAN, TEXAS -- You can get your haircut in Sherman for a good cause.  Diamonds Cosmetology College is offering $5 haircuts today through March 27th and donating all the proceeds and extra tips to Jerry's Kids.

Jerry's Kids helps kids with muscular dystrophy and the money collected by Diamonds will help pay for local kids to attend camp.  "It costs $800 to send a child to camp because nurses and doctors are required to help the kids with their daily activities," says Charlotte Hamil, a Diamonds Cosmologist who helped plan this years fundraiser.

This is the first year Diamonds is letting their students join in and give customers haircuts.  This year's goal is set at $1,600 and they are a little less than half way there.

Researchers say it costs around $760 a minute for muscular dystrophy research.
