Tea Party Planned in Sherman

Posted: Updated:

SHERMAN, TX -- We are just three days away from a possible final vote on health care reform or maybe passage without a formal vote. All or the country, protestors are coming together to "Kill the Bill" even in Texoma. Deeda Payton reports.

In a rally on Capitol Hill, groups cheered and waved signs outside congressional offices to protest the $875 billion health care bill. A local group called the Texoma Patriots out of Grayson County is planning a similar demonstration for this Thursday. Organizers say they aren't against health care reform, but they are against government takeover of the health care industry, and they believe that is what is being pushed through. "We make sure the government understands, Washington understands, that we don't approve of them deeming the bill passed and all the shenanigans that they are trying to pull," said Tea Party Organizer, Kaaren Teuber.

"This is a country of the people, for the people and by the people. We're not going to tolerate this," said Tea Party Organizer, Clyde Siebman.

The Texoma Patriots say Congressman Ralph Hall is expected to call in from Washington for the tea party. They also expect Representative Larry Phillips to be in attendance. The group will rally around the federal building in downtown Sherman Thursday at noon.
