New Jobs Coming to Sherman

SHERMAN, TX -- New jobs are coming soon to Sherman.  The company hiring is the same bringing jobs to Denison.  KTEN's Chris Severy reports.

The company is Alpine Access.  Basically, companies hire them to handle things like customer service, catalog inquiries and even order taking.  But the people Alpine Access hires don't have to go anywhere to work, it's all done at home.  The Sherman Economic Development Corporation agreed to pay Alpine Access $1500 per person for the first 50 the company hires from the Sherman zip code.  SEDCO is paying the company with money it gets from the local sales tax, which means your tax dollars going to work to bring jobs to Sherman.  John Boswell, Exec. Dir. of SEDCO, says, "We're very excited about having them.  We think that's going to tap into a market of potential employees who may want to, may have to stay at home or who may not want to get out to work for whatever reason they might have, this is an opportunity for them."  Those the company hires will make at least $9 per hour, have access to a limited benefit program, get paid time off and a corporate matching 401k plan.
