OHP Calls in Extra Help to Patrol

Posted:

DURANT, OK -- The weather this afternoon has local law enforcement stepping up their game to prepare for the worst.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol in Durant say they've brought in extra units and special service units. OHP workers are working overtime today to take care of the roads and highways. They said they were anticipating this evening to be the worst. "We have troopers that are assigned to this area but not necessarily to this detachment and they come out and care basically just extra help for us to keep the roadway a little bit safer."

Because of the number of traffic-related incidents today. OHP says they will not respond to non-injury accidents within the seven county Oklahoma city area.

They will of course respond if the accident blocks a roadway or if there is an injury.

Troopers ask that if you have an accident but are not injured that you pull away from the road to allow for other traffic to continue.
