KTEN's 10 Days of Christmas, Day 1

SHERMAN, TX --  We begin KTEN's 10 days of Christmas.  Over the next 10 days, leading up to Christmas, we'll spotlight someone or an organization that is making a difference in someone's life this holiday season.   KTEN's Chris Severy reports.

Five years ago, a Sherman High School student started a program for the Child & Family Guidance Center of Texoma called "Operation Warm Fuzzy."  Each year, a new student or students take over the project.  They raise money for materials and then make homemade blankets that are then donated to clients of the Child & Family Guidance Center.  This year, one of the students who volunteered for the project is Sherman senior, Kailyn Castro, or "KK" as she's known to friends.  KK has been raising the money and making blankets for months.  Earlier this fall she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma.  And even though she's been going through cancer treatments, she's still been making blankets.  Brenda Hayward, Executive Director of CFGC, said, "what we're doing is having a donation campaign in any amount.  People can give $1, $5 or a million dollars, whatever it is they can help with to help KK and her family through this difficult time of her treatment."  If you'd like to help KK and her family, you can drop off donations at the Child & Family Guidance Center on Pecan Grove Rd. in Sherman.  All people who donate will be entered into a drawing to win a operation warm fuzzy gift basket made by KK herself.
