Local Charity Gets Big Donation To Feed Hungry Children

BRYAN CO., OK--A local foundation is stepping up to help hungry children in Bryan County. An anonymous donor has offered to match every dollar donated to the 'Food 4 Kids' program throughout the month of September.
Their goal: to make sure elementary school students in Bryan County get meals even when school lets out.

"Demand is definitely higher, we serve over 460 private non-profit agencies all of them reported this year anywhere from a 20 percent to a 50 percent increase, in fact even on the food for kids program we have 32 schools on a waiting list right now cause we're not able to get to them," says Executive Director Rodney Bivens.

According to the director, 21 percent of children in Bryan County struggle with hunger and it's hardest when schools close down for the holidays and summer  break and the children can't get their normal school lunches. For more information on how you can help out, log onto www.regionalfoodbank.org.
