Teen Assault Suspect is Hit by a Car in Van Alstyne

Posted:

VAN ALSTYNE, TX --  According to the Grayson County Sheriff's Office, A teen accused of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon runs out in front of a car to avoid going to jail.

Authorities say it all started at a party between midnight and 1:00 a.m. Saturday morning on Wolf Front Road. They say an uninvited teenager showed up and cracked a beer bottle over a 23-year-old Austin man's head and left. The man got stitches for his head injuries at a Mckinney hospital before reporting the incident to police. The 16-year-old suspect couldn't be found, but then this is where the situation took a turn.

Around one o'clock Saturday afternoon, authorities got a call from a man saying he was dying and needed help, a call that was traced to the teenager. About a minute later, authorities got another 911 call from a woman saying she had just hit someone with her car. That someone turned out to be the 16-year-old assault suspect. As he was being air-lifted to a Dallas hospital, he reportedly told authorities he was afraid of going to jail over the beer bottle incident.
