Unemployment Benefits Extended For Oklahomans

OKLAHOMA - A bill recently signed into law is extending jobless benefits another 14 weeks. The extension will immediately impact approximately 7,000 Oklahomans.

Those who claim unemployment are first eligible for up to 26 weeks worth of benefits. Once the regular benefits are exhausted claimants can receive federal extended benefits for up to 20 additional  weeks. Once those are exhausted, claimants can now apply for another extension for a maximum of 14 weeks. That's been extended from 13 weeks.

An additional tier of benefits was added for states whose unemployment rate averages at least 8.5% for a three month period.
