Lake Texoma for Labor Day

Posted:

Labor Day Weekend is coming to an end. But, the holiday was a big success for lake goers and lake businesses alike. Deeda Payton reports.

The Corps of Engineers says Labor Day Weekend is typically the third busiest weekend of the year. And this year was no exception, their campsites booked up all three days!

Things were much calmer Monday, the official Labor Day, than over the stretch of the weekend. Most people just came out to fish or go on one last boat trip before the start of a short work-week. But, the past few days saw heavy boat traffic and a lot of tourism. "Overall, the weekend, Lake Texoma saw great visitation. We were really busy. Corps of Engineers, we manage over 700 plus campsites on the lake and during our peak time Friday, Saturday, Sunday, we were 100-percent full."

With only two incidents to report on Lake Texoma this holiday weekend, the Corps says, their accident numbers were down as well.

The Corps campgrounds weren't the only sites to book up this weekend, both the Comfort Inn and Suites and the Holiday Inn Express in Denison reached full capacity.
