Sherman Fire Fighters Host Annual "Fill the Boot" Campaign

Posted:

Fire fighters in Sherman hit the streets today for their annual "Fill The Boot" campaign, which collects donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Last year Sherman fire fighters raised over $6,000 in just one day. They were out all afternoon at the Sherman Town Center calling on back-to-school shoppers to donate.

"It's heartwarming to see everybody giving and giving brings more giving," said Billy Hartsfield with the Sherman Fire Department. "It's been nice."

"It makes me feel good because I know there are lots of children out there with this illness and if it were my child having it, I would want others to be able to understand what that child is going through," said Rhonda Emmions-Schroeder, who donated money.

Texas fire fighters led the nation in dontaions, raising a huge chunk of the $27 million raised last year. In North Texas, MDA serves over 2,000 families who are affected by the disease.
