Paris Marine Among Four Killed in Afghanistan


DALLAS (AP) - The Defense Department says two Texans are among four Marines killed in Afghanistan.

U.S. military officials in Afghanistan said they died Thursday when a roadside bomb struck their vehicle in Farah province of western Afghanistan.

The Pentagon identified the dead as 20-year-old Lance Cpl. Travis T. Babine of San Antonio and 24-year-old Sgt. Jay M. Hoskins, 24, of Paris, Texas.

Also killed were 22-year-old Lance Cpl. James D. Argentine of Farmingdale, N.Y., and 21-year-old Cpl. Christian A. Guzman Rivera of Homestead, Fla.

Argentine, Babine and Hoskins were based at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay. Guzman Rivera was assigned to an assault battalion in Okinawa, Japan.
