TEA Releases School Accountability Ratings: Find Your School

The Texas Education Agency released the 2009 State Accountability Ratings on Friday. Those ratings are based on how students performed on the TAKS test. Districts and campuses can receive one of four different ratings: exemplary, recognized, academically acceptable, or academically unacceptable.

This year Sherman ISD accomplished a new record. For the first time eight out of ten campuses were rated exemplary or recognized.

According to Superintendent Dr. Al Hambrick, Sherman ISD has never had more than two campuses hit the highest mark. Overall the district received a rating of "Academically Acceptable" and missed the "Recognized" mark in one area and only by a few students.

Fairview, Jefferson, Neblett, Sory and Wakefield elementary all took the highest mark of "Exemplary."

Crutchfield and Washington Elementary and Dillingham Intermediate all earned a "Recognized" rating.

Piner Middle School and Sherman High School were listed as "Academically Acceptable."
