Ardmore's First Annual 4th of July Parade

If you live in Ardmore, Saturday is the 1st Annual 4th of July parade.   KTEN's Meredith Saldana met with the organizers who say they were surprised by the overwhelming support.

The parade will go through downtown Ardmore on Main Street.

You may know the founders,  they're the same group that organized the tax tea party a few months ago.

They tell us while many tax tea party groups are planning on protesting on the 4th, they wanted to focus on what the holiday is all about, honoring those who served our country and fought for our freedom.

And organizers say they're excited about the community support.

One of the organizers, Dondi Persyn, says, "Yeah definitely been surprised.  We thought we would be lucky if the little group of us could march down Main Street and now we have 40-45 entries.  We have motorcycles, horse riders, kids on bikes, all kinds of businesses.  It's really impressive."

The parade starts at 10 am Saturday at Central Park and will head down Main Street to the Paradise Alley Market Place.

Over 45 groups have entered the parade including many area veteran's in uniform, police and firemen.

Everyone is encouraged to wear red, white, and blue.

You may be wondering why they added the parade this year, when some communities are cutting back?

Organizers say they pitched in their own money to cover costs!
