Tanglewood Resort and Conference Center Announces Grand Re-Opening Of Golf Course
Pottsboro, TX- Tanglewood Resort and Conference Center is pleased to announce the Grand Re-opening of its 18-hole Championship Golf Course Saturday, September 1, 2007. The course closed in June to rebuild all 18 greens. The greens renovation has been completed under the supervision of Dr. Milton Engelke of Texas A&M University. Dr. Engelke is widely regarded as the world's foremost expert on putting surface grasses including Bent grass and Soyzia grasses.
Tanglewood is the first Golf Course in the world to use the Diamond Soyzia grasses that Dr. Engelke developed on all 18 greens. Dr. Engelke stated, "We are very pleased with the condition of the grass and look forward to getting the Tanglewood members and guests out on their wonderful new greens."
The project also included the renovation of several bunkers including new drainage systems. The drainage systems were installed by Sportcrete. Sportcrete recently opened operations in the United States from Europe where their product has been used successfully for years. Tanglewood is one of the first Golf Facilities in the country to install Sportcrete drainage systems in their bunkers.
Greg Dick, General Manager, states, "Our goal is to provide excellent playing conditions 365 days a year and these new greens truly give us the ability to do just that!" He added, "We want our members and hotel guests to come and enjoy what we think will be an outstanding golf experience."
The Grand Re-Opening festivities include a complimentary lunch for Tanglewood Club Members on Saturday, September 1. Mike Fish, Director of Golf Operations, is inviting all members that play Labor Day Weekend to bring a guest to join them. For a cart fee of $17.00 per person, guests can experience the new course.
