"It's hard. It's not right, no wife should have to go through this. something should have been done a long time ago," says fallen firefighter Phillip Townsend's former girlfriend, Teresa Curtis.

Nearly two years after his death, the family of Townsend is still fighting for what they call "justice."

Curtis says his death was the result of the Chief's decision, December 30th, 2006, As a Denison business went up in flames.

Now she wants something done about it.

"I want them to show him some honor," says Curtis, "Because that's what he deserves."

Discussion of a possible lawsuit was discussed in executive session at a Tuesday evening special meeting involving the Denison City Council.

Curtis wasn't given a chance to speak, because it wasn't an open forum, brought along photos and memories of that Saturday morning.

In one photo, a shot of someone reaching through a wall, trying to get to Townsend who became trapped underneath an awning while trying to put out the flames.

"(They should) do something about it. says Curtis. "I think Gordon Weger should have left his duty as Chief a long time ago."

In two of the photos, Chief Weger is seen in a t-shirt and jeans and not in gear like the rest of the firefighters.  Curtis says he was not on duty and shouldn't have been there that day.

In October of 2007 the local chapter of the Firefighters Association says the fire chief's actions directly caused Townsend's death, and the group called for Weger's resignation, saying the chief's actions were indicative of his lack of understanding of their standard operating guidelines.

"How hard it is for my son? He asks for him (Townsend) everyday. I asked what he wants for his birthday and all he says is he want is father. How do you do that? How do you tell your son you can't bring him back? You can't."

The city council quickly adjourned the meeting after discussing the issue in executive session.  Officials say the only reason it was on the agenda was to update new council members of possible lawsuits.
