Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon in Sherman

Updated:

Barbed wire... And tire irons. Those were the grim weapons flashed during an aggravated assault at a motel in Sherman. Police tell me a 20-year-old male was threatened by two men carrying tire irons wrapped in barbed wire.

The assault was reported at the Executive Inn in the 2100 block of Texoma Parkway. Residents say there was a disturbance regarding one of the renters and two other men over drug money. Police say the victim denies owing the two men money and says he doesn't even know the suspects.

Sargeant Bruce Dawsey of the Sherman Police Department describes how the incident started. "Police arrived initially for a criminal mischief call in which someone had thrown a garden landscape rock threw the victims window. Approximately 30 minutes later we received a second call over 911 in regards to two individuals holding tire irons threatening that same victim."

The motel owner walked me through the crime scene showing me how much damage the suspects caused. The two suspects face charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon even though the tire irons never made contact with the victim. Police say the suspects only pushed the victim and fled the scene shortly afterwards.

Sargeant Dawsey says the police department is following up on several leads and is not willing to release a full description for the two suspects. However, he tells me they are white males who were last seen in a four-door sedan.
