In three different counties and three different days, three-men have been killed in motorcycle accidents. Although different circumstances surrounded each accident, authorities say none of the drivers was wearing a helmet. KTEN's Hailee Holliday reports.
OHP trooper Mark Basinger says, despite working a number of accidents, three deadly motorcycle accidents are out of the ordinary.
The first accident happened Monday, when a bike collided with a car near the intersection of West Broadway and Plainview Road in Ardmore.
69-year-old Jackie Sams died from head injuries.
Tuesday in Tishomingo, 24-year-old Brett Hughes was killed when his motorcycle ran off the road just west of Elks Road.
And Wednesday morning in Love County, 57-year-old John Holland, was killed when his motorcycle ran off the road and he was thrown from the bike.
Basinger says, "Our bodies, heads and the entire body for that matter can only withstand so much trauma and there's nothing on or about a motorcycle that is protective of the occupant."
Basinger says motorcyclists should also be aware of other drivers and give themselves plenty of room.
