On 05-22-08 at about 1156 hours I (Ptl. Justin Blackshear) was dispatched to 720 S. 3rd Ave. in reference to a domestic in progress.
I arrived and located a female subject (later identified as Sheila Christian) walking away from a male subject (later identified as Ronald Christian) in the front yard. Sheila had been crying and seemed to be very upset towards Ronald. Ronald was bleeding from his mouth and was shouting at Sheila. I separated Ronald and Sheila. I then spoke to Sheila alone and she reported the following:
Sheila stated she was asleep in her bed when Ronald came home and started to shout at her. She advised she tried to leave when Ronald grabbed her by her hair and twisted her neck. Sheila advised when he let go she gathered some of her items, contacted the police, and waited outside for them to arrive. I asked why Ronald was bleeding from his mouth. She advised he punched himself in the mouth and stated, "You hit me, you're going to jail now". I checked Sheila's hands and knuckles for blood and defense wounds. Sheila's hands did not have any marks consistent with Ronald's injuries. Sheila advised Ronald has assaulted her in the past and she was tired of fighting with him. She stated she was terminally ill and didn't feel like she needed to be assaulted by Ronald. Sheila advised she was going to stay with a friend that lived approximately 2 blocks away on S. 2nd Ave.
I spoke to Ronald at the scene and he stated Sheila attacked him. Ronald advised he came home from unloading a delivery truck and found Sheila throwing items throughout the house. Ronald advised he tried to get Sheila to quit when she struck him in the mouth. Ronald advised he tried to defend himself by holding her arms so she could not hit him again. Ronald advised she then grabbed her purse and walked outside to call the police. I noticed Ronald had a blood in a circular pattern on the last two knuckles of his right hand. When I questioned Ronald about being struck by Sheila he advised he didn't get hit, he just ran into the wall. Later Ronald would restate that the door struck him when Sheila was leaving.
I gave Ronald and Sheila a Safe Line card and advised them of their rights as a victim. Ronald could not advise exactly how he received his injury. Sheila did not have any injuries at the scene. Sheila left the residence and went to a friend's house on S. 2nd Ave.
