Local Company's Claim to Fame is Making Excuses

Updated:

Excuses, excuses, they're actually one local company's claim to fame.  That's right, the Excused Absence Network sells authentic-looking notes to help get employees and students out of work. KTEN's Hailee Holliday reports.

For $25, people can buy excuse notes such as doctor's notes, jury summons, and even funeral service programs. The Thackerville based company makes authentic-looking templates that customers can customize by filling in the blanks and then print off the note. Many might question if the products are legal or even work, the owners simply respond by saying that they're just helping people do something they would have done anyway. The owners, John Liddell and Darl Waterhouse, say since the word got about the company, their Internet site has been getting more hits than they imagined.

Waterhouse, says, "I think the demand is really high. I think that alot of people that are working today don't have enough time off and I think that employers aren't willing to give them the time off that they always need, so I think that the demand is out there."

Waterhouse believes the company will be more successful in time, especially if more and more people are looking for good excuses.
