Choctaw Nation Announces Casino to More than Double

Updated:

From news release:

Construction to more than double the size of the Choctaw Casino in Durant will begin early January.  A large new facility will replace the coliseum, with concerts, pow wows, rodeo events and other entertainment venues being held in an expanded and renovated event center on the north end of the property.  Improvements to the existing arena to create this event center will provide for about 4,000 audience seating.  As the coliseum is dismantled, many of the components will be utilized in the remodeled center.

Employment opportunities are going to be tremendous.  In addition to the gaming expansion and event center expansion, the Choctaw Hotel will also grow in size and height.  A tower is planned that will bring the hotel to a 350 room capacity.  Several eateries and a food court are planned for the new casino, and eventually a large 2,000-seat theater for concerts and entertainment. When the new gaming facility is completed, the Choctaw Casino in Durant will have about 5,000 machines.

The Choctaw Nation has become widely known as a great vacation destination and receives visitors from Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma on a weekly basis.  Attractions in the Durant area such as Lake Texoma, shopping downtown, unique restaurants add to the total vacation package that draws visitors time and again to the Choctaw Nation.  The Casino and Hotel is very appreciative of the working partnerships throughout the area.
