From news release:

(McKinney , TX) -- Collin County Criminal District Attorney John Roach has announced an arrest in a 19-year-old cold case. Odis Dale McDonald, 45, was arrested for the murder of Betty Ingram, 35, at her home in Copeville, Texas in 1987. An arrest warrant was obtained by DA investigators in the DA’s Cold Case/Fugitive Unit at the conclusion of a months-long investigation. Collin County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Mr. McDonald on the warrant, and he remains confined in the Collin County jail pending indictment. No bond has been set.

"Betty Ingram was murdered in her own home on July 17, 1987," says Mr. Roach. "I authorized our Cold Case/Fugitive Unit to investigate this case in early 2005. Hard work and tenacity on the part of our investigators resulted in a warrant being issued for the arrest of Mr. McDonald."

The DA cold case investigators conducted interviews, reviewed evidence, used laboratory analysis of some of the physical evidence recovered at the crime scene, placed two large billboards on Highway 78 near Copeville, established a tip line, and advertised an award offered by the family of Miss Ingram.

"It is very gratifying to everyone in our office to solve a cold case," said Mr. Roach. "This is the eighth murder case investigated by this office, and we have obtained warrants in all of them and convictions for four of the murders."

Three murder cases are awaiting trial, including this one. One murder case defendant died before trial. All of these murders were committed before 1990.
