Alligator Caught & Released in Johnston County

JOHNSTON CO., OK - Alligators are fairly unusual in this part of the country, that's why a couple driving down Highway 22 in Johnston County were surprised to seen an eight-foot gator chomping on a deer last Thursday.

They called the game warden, but by the time he arrived the alligator had slithered toward a Tishomingo home and made himself at home in their stock pond. Authorities were able to catch it and brought the reptile to the Tishomingo National Wildlife Refuge which actually runs into Lake Texoma.

Coming up on KTEN News at 6 why officials chose to place the alligator in a spot that filters into the popular lake and what folks around the area are still talking about.
