Job Fair Information for New Choctaw Casino Resort

SHERMAN, TX -- About a hundred of people are taking advantage of a job fair for positions at the new Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant. Deeda Payton followed one woman through the interview process.

Applications and interviews can make your stomach tumble and your nerves show, especially if there is a room full of people watching. "I'm nervous. I don't do interviews very well. I stumble over my own feet."

Meet Jody, she was recently let go from Ruiz Foods in Denison, and is looking for employment. "I'm hoping to find a job because jobs are hard to come by. I got laid off in May and I'm trying to find a job."

Delaware North is a gaming hospitality group hired by the Choctaw Casino Resort to fill roughly one-thousand positions by January.

Jody has experience in food service and is hoping for a kitchen staff position. She passed the first interview and the second and was offered a job in the food court of the new resort. "I'm so excited I can't wait. I'm ready for this. I can't wait."

Jody proves that the waiting, the nerves, it's all worth it if you leave with a job.

Jody and all the other people offered jobs will have to pass a drug test and gaming license background check. Orientation will be held at the beginning of January. The resort is slated to open in February.

If you are interested in working at the new resort, the Choctaw Nation is hosting another job fair on December first from eleven to seven o'clock at the Choctaw Event Center.
