Sherman Walmart's Grand Re-Opening

If you have visited the Sherman Walmart, you may have noticed the recent renovations.

The store was just one of 50 Walmarts across Texas chosen to receive money for an extensive remodeling to allow their customers to have a better experience for the shopper.  The renovations took 3 months to complete and the reason behind it, it's what Walmart says its customers want.  "What our customers are shopping for and what they expect when they come to a walmart is more in our home line areas, bedding and bath, the entertainment section.  They also want wider aisles.  These are all factors in what our customer is looking for when they come shopping," says Sherman Store Manager Bryan Lambert.

Among the improvents, a new layout, wider aisles, low-profile shelving, bright interior paint scheme, enhanced lighting, and easy-to-read singage.  There were also major renovations/expansions made in the electronic section and the fresh produce area.  The expansions in certain areas did lead the store to cut down in other areas such as the toy aisle to offer more bedding and home items.

The store's new layout was not the only thing revealed at this mornings grand re-opening, Walmart was also able to shell out $11,000 worth of grant money to local organizations.  Each of the following groups received a $1,000 check: Girls Inc., Grayson County College, Red Cross, Tom Bean Police Department, Loy Lake Improvement Program, Wakefield Elementary (nutritional program), Sherman Police Department, the Salvation Army, Child Protective Services, Sherman Fire Department and Toys for Tots.

Walmart hopes the new look and spacious atmosphere will give their customers a better shopping experience by providing them more room to maneuver through the aisle to keep from bumping into other customers or crowding the aisles.
