DUNCAN, Okla. (AP) - A Lawton man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for the fatal shooting of a teenager at a Duncan park last year.
As part of a plea agreement with Stephens County prosecutors, 22-year-old Elijah Davis pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree murder in the Oct. 1 death of 18-year-old Cyrus Holland.
A judge sentenced Davis to 60 years in prison on the murder charge, suspending all but 18 years.
According to authorities, the killing stemmed from a Sept. 16 shooting in which Davis, whom prosecutors say was a gang member, was shot.
District Attorney Bret Burns says Holland wasn't a gang member but was shot by mistake in retaliation for Davis' shooting.
