School closings affect nearly 300,000 Texas students

The Texas Education Agency count of schools closed because of concerns about swine flu totals 462.

A suburban Corpus Christi school district is among the latest to close because of a probable case of the swine flu while officials at a district near Houston are closing until at least Wednesday.

The TEA's list of school closings late tonight estimated more than 299,000 students at 462 schools were affected by the closings.

The West Oso Independent School District closed after a probable case of swine flu at Kennedy Elementary.

The Libery ISD in Liberty County said it was closing its schools Monday and Tuesday because of a probable case of swine flu. If the case isn't confirmed, classes may resume Wednesday.
