Grayson County Kennel Goes Up in Flames

Updated:

A sad story from the Grayson County town of Southmayd: 29 Yorkshire Terriers, both grown dogs and older puppies, died in a fire at a kennel.

Colleen Woods owned Crosswind Kennels, off of State Highway 56 and McElroy.

She's been a Yorkie breeder for 30 years, selling dogs ranging in price from $450 to $19,000.

Some of them were champion show dogs.

No one was home when the fire broke out about 4pm.

Someone driving by saw smoke and called 9-1-1.

Thirteen dogs were saved.

Now, Woods is working closely with vets, to make sure they don't have pneumonia or any other complications.
